Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes at site. Utilizes project management skills to implement new operational processes and equipment and ensures new products are launched in a safe, cost effective manner while providing the best possible service to our customers. This position will drive continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of production and will support lean through kaizen events, lean work cell design, standard product design revisions, and cost improvements projects.

Job Requirements & Skills

Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Develops complete project plans including resources, costs, benefits and schedules. Assumes full responsibility for all aspects of projects to ensure goals are met on time. Communicates project status to stakeholders as appropriate and follows up to ensure project results are sustained.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. Evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Leads and facilitates kaizen activities using lean tools, encouraging cross-functional groups to participate and meet common goals.
Prepares and maintains manufacturing documentation (Routers, OMS's, and MI's) for new and existing products in manufacturing.
Prepares documentation using Excel, JD Edwards MRP system, CAD packages, Word, and digital photography.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Understands and applies the necessary programming skills related to various types of equipment.
Mentors engineers and team members to assist in their development and build a strong foundation for advancement.
Stays informed on current technologies and lean concepts through continuing education and benchmarking.
Demonstrates and promotes companies "Win Right" culture at all times when interacting with employees, co-workers, customers and suppliers.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated working knowledge of various assembly techniques and devises, previous design experience with PLCs and automation, and knowledge of machine tooling and fixing. Key requirements and attributes include:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related Engineering or Technology field plus 5+ years of related experience is required.
Knowledge of lean tools (takt, Kanban, single piece flow, poke yoke, SMED, FMEA) preferred.
Lean Manufacturing experience required.
Familiarity with mills, lathers, grinders, pumps and flow meters preferred.
Problem solving and project management skills required.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Proficient in Solid Works and Microsoft Office.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
